KEN KESSEY

Ken Kessey is an American writer and cultural figure who defines definition. He write One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest, Sometimes A Great Notion. He was born in La Junta, Colorado on September 17, 1935, like the youngest of two boys, Ken Elton Kesey moved with his family to Springfield, Oregon in 1946 where he spent many years on a family farm. In high school, and later in undergraduate school, Kesey was a champion wrestler and set state records that he holds to this day. After high school he ran off and eloped with Faye Haxby and they had three children together, Jed, Zane and Shannon.

ONE FLEW OVER THE COCKOO’S NEST was an immediate critical and commercial success. It was read as a compelling cautionary tale that viewed society, represented by Big Nurse, as a cold, formidable negation of all that is free, lusty and nonconformist, she rule the asylum with an iron fist. She use an awesomw array of instruments of contol, medical drugs, mindless music, electic shock therapy and emotional blackmail. McMurphy is a malingerer from a penal work farm,he is an outsider, a petty criminal, gambler and womaniser. He tries to rekindle a spark of life among his fellow patients, and is thwarted at each step by the cold, calculating Nurse Ratched, who ultimately curtails McMurphy's free wheeling ways by subjecting him to a lobotomy. Mc Murphy is destroyed, as much by his own weaknesses as by the strength of others. And he teleased the Chief, a deranged and terrified giant faking muteness who achieves self-realisation and escapes into another America.
